“My love for techno scene is very big. It gives me a lot of positive energy. Dancing for hours is an important way to express myself. I have been expressing myself way better since I identify myself as a gay man. I can finally hook up and meet guys the way I want. Before something was always holding me back.
My coming out was very special for me. I told all my friends personally, so I came out 35 times in five days. After my coming out I was in De School during New Year. I was standing on the dancefloor with all my friends and I realized that I could finally be truly happy for myself and be who I really am. It made me cry on the dancefloor. I was overwhelmed by emotions. All my friends were there supporting me, holding me and it made everyone fall into each other’s arms and cry. They were telling to each other how they were witnessing the rebirth of Kenneth and how happy they were that I could finally be who I am.
After my coming out, I had a new party revival. Now I only visit parties where I know I can be myself, wear whatever I want and surround myself with the people I love. A queer techno party can be very sexual and sexy. The vibe is accepting. You can be who you are. It’s like something else. We all have a little love for this rawness and sexiness, I guess.
This kind of parties are very intense in many different ways. You have people who party and people who party party. People who party go for a few hours and go home. People who party party can go on forever. It’s a little escape from reality and an important way for letting go for me. But you also need to be comfortable to be back in reality. I always say, ‘If you are a big player in the night, you need to be a big player in reality as well.’”
