“The first time I was at a proper techno party I was amazed. No phones, no mirrors. People dancing to melodic techno. I thought, wow, this is a different world. It’s the trance and the meditative state that techno can put you in. There is so much energy in the music, and each techno DJ has their own unique touch. It’s amazing how there are so many different facets of the same genre. Can’t get enough of it.
There was one night in Berghain when I started to cry because the music was so good. My body couldn’t express the emotions inside of me, so I burst into tears. That was so beautiful. I was shocked. I had a similar experience with classical music, but not quite as intense as with techno.
I am a mix of an introvert and extrovert. The introverted part is when I dance alone, and the extravert part is when I dance in a club with my friends. With techno you can be both the introvert and the extravert on the dancefloor.
Part of the fun of going clubbing for me is choosing or making my own outfit. It has to flow around my body like a skirt for example. It creates motion and rhythm around me, and gives me a bit of extra energy! Just like the olympic athletes who feel more graceful when they perform in their special outfits for the competition.
When I leave a good party, I feel like I had a religious experience. I feel at peace, renewed, and refreshed”
